Shirley just called to let us know Richard was able to have the surgery earlier this morning to put the port in his arm. He is now back in his room. The doctors said he did well and he will have a dialysis treatment this afternoon beginning around 1:00 p.m. These treatments last about four hours and, with his surgery this morning, Shirley said he will probably be wiped out when he gets finished so maybe there should not be any visitors the rest of today. However, she said he loves to see people for short visits so those could resume tomorrow.
Praise and glory, power and honor are rightfully yours, dear Lord. Thanks be to you for this good report about Richard. Thank you that he is feeling and doing better, and that Shirley is faithfully beside him, as you are, too. Please continue to heal him and let him return to his home.

I talked to Shirley this afternoon and she said Richard is doing a little better. His pulmonary doctor told them his lungs looked pretty good and they had not heard that in quite a while. They have also ordered him a new boot so he will be able to walk again. The doctors told Shirley they hope to be able to move him to rehab later this week so she, and their son, Greg, were on their way to check out a rehab facility.
He can still have short visits, but they have changed his dialysis schedule to Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday so you may want to call before you go to make sure he will be available for a visit.
Lord, how I joyfully praise your holy name! Thank you for the good report on Richard, and for the good news that he will be able to walk again. I pray that Shirley and Greg will find a good rehab center for him and that he will recover there, and will be back home and at church again soon. In Jesus' name, Amen
